Our priority at Point-7 is to focus on the windsurf rig and make it a winning rig, regardless of the discipline. The windsurf boom is what we feel with our hands when sailing. It makes us feel the wind in the sail. We develop sails - we developed the race sail that won the PWA slalom world champion title. And a boom is an integral part of that rig, providing winning performance to the rider. An aluminium boom doesn't just have to have a good price, a carbon boom doesn't just have to feel light and stiff. There is much more behind a boom and its features, especially comfort, performance and safety. Some booms may look the same. Some may be lighter or stiffer than others, but the most important feature is the reflex. This can make a sail feel light or heavy, powerful or more comfortable. The reflex must vary depending on the sail size and conditions. A 220 racing boom cannot have the same structure as a 140 wave boom. Just like with the masts, the synergy between boom and mast is very important. Just like with the sail and the mast. What is sometimes discussed when looking at a product on the beach may not lead to the same result once it is in use on the water and put under pressure.

Development:

The Point-7 Black team's first goal when developing a boom is the curve. This is not about creating a new generation curve as some might think. It's about a curve that allows your front and back arm to take a natural ergonomic position while sailing, automatically positioning the sail at the right angle to allow the wind to flow into and out of the sail optimally. This position varies with the wind strength and the windsurfing discipline, so each boom size must be developed accordingly .

The curve: The demands on the curve of a wave boom are very different from those of a slalom boom, just as a slalom boom for strong winds differs significantly from a boom for slalom in light winds - what is required is respective control and the corresponding power. Developing the right boom curve delivers comfort and performance .

Backend width: We have developed the correct backend width for each boom size and its use. The width of the back end of a boom is very important - the wider, the more power; the narrower, the more control. We put each size to the test with the result that it fits best with the sail sizes it was designed for .

Diameter: Diameter is another important factor as it provides comfort to the forearms and prevents wasted energy on the water. For our aluminium boom, we had to choose a diameter that would make the tubes stiff enough and not bend over time. The Wave 140 and 160 forks have a diameter of 27 mm, and the larger sizes from 180 cm have a diameter of 29 mm .

Stiffness: The stiffness of an aluminium boom must be able to control the gusts when they hit the sail, not just the flex. Although we cannot expect the same stiffness as a carbon boom, we can change the tube diameter. If you choose a boom size that fits the sail size, you will enjoy the performance of an aluminium boom.

Weight: You can have the lightest and stiffest boom on the market. However, if the main features are wrong, the boom will feel heavy and uncomfortable. The weight needs to be front-focused on the boom so that the back end of the boom stays light. A heavy tail generally makes a light boom feel heavier than it really is. Therefore, a light boom end is the most important thing .

Construction: monocoque built, including the end piece with holes drilled in it.

Features:

- Boom double pin clips for a stiffer connection between boom body and tail with 2 cm adjustments. Various pin sizes to best suit the boom size.

- Boom head: Easy automatic mounting on the mast. The movable head tilts according to the mounting height on the mast, but does not move from side to side. Even with low rope tension, the head does not slide down the mast. Fits perfectly with RDM adapters .

- Boom Grip is a lightly ground, non-slip Pro Grip: you need less force for a firm grip on the boom. Easy positioning markings for the harness lines.

- Tail end pulley system: The wave sizes have a quick loop system, while the slalom sizes have pulleys to accommodate an adjustable outhaul system, or otherwise allow you to simply tamp to fix the clew tension.
