Wingsurfing has become a real boom in a very short time. With the Slingwing V.2 we react to this trend and present nothing less than the lightest wing of all times. Compared to the first generation, we were able to reduce the weight by an incredible 50 percent, which allows for absolutely easy control and noticeably increases the riding comfort. At the same time, this reduces vibrations of the Wing when the rider lets it blow out while holding it by one hand. Beginners benefit from the significantly reduced force needed to hold the wing in low winds. Advanced riders enjoy a much easier launching process on a small board.
With its dihedral shape, the Slingwing V.2 boasts a stronger, more forward pull. This allows for a quicker transition into the riding state, but at the same time ensures a harmonious and linear pull during the ride. During the water start, the increased forward pull is noticeable in that the front wing of the foil is more intensively flowed against. The result: the foil provides faster buoyancy. An effective added value can also be experienced in powerless wind waves, which can be surfed effortlessly with the Slingwing V.2.
No matter how advanced your riding skills are, everyone wants a wing that delivers constant lift. If it tends to nosedive when transferring or surfing a wave with a blowing profile, the joy of the session is quickly lost. This is exactly why we have added strategically placed leading edge handles and a transfer handle, which allow the Slingwing V.2 to float along comfortably. At the same time, it always remains within reach so that the sail can be brought close within fractions of a second if desired.
The rider changes the position of the wing several times during a session, between one-handed deployment and two-handed pull-in. Switching from a vertically placed leading edge handle to horizontally aligned strut handles is not very comfortable and makes intuitive movements difficult. The new transfer handle has been designed with ergonomics in mind and allows for smooth transitions between sail blowing out and powered up.
In strong winds, jumps or when pumping up, it is extremely important that the wing does not deform. Our Y-handle not only allows for easy and effective upwind running, it also consistently pulls the wingtips in, ensuring an extremely stable shape - even in very strong winds.
For beginners and smaller wingsurfers, large spans are always a challenge because the tips tend to sink in the water. To eliminate this disturbing factor, the Slingwing V.2 is based on a reduced wingspan, which remains the same across all sizes. For experienced wingsurfers who want to hook in with a harness, there are also sewn attachment points for a harness line on the strut.
The fascination of wingsurfing is primarily to use the swell and thus the energy in the water effectively, which is why the wing is mainly held with only one hand. Accordingly, the design of the handles, which we have made from pleasantly soft materials, is very important. There are no seams in the relevant areas so that you don't rub your knuckles raw during every session.
High-quality materials and robust workmanship are part of our brand philosophy. That's exactly why we use our proven 4×4 Canopy Tech for the Slingwing V.2. Numerous other details, such as the double stitching on the leading edge, ensure that you will enjoy your Slingwing V.2 for a very long time. The new construction also allows for a higher inflation pressure, which makes for a stiffer leading edge, but also improves the dimensional stability of the entire wing. Despite this bombproof construction, you should deflate your Slingwing V.2 when not in use and store it in the bag provided. Parked on the beach in the wind when inflated will reduce its lifespan.
Slingshot has stood for groundbreaking innovations in kite development for 20 years now. So it's no surprise that millionfold copied and patented achievements such as the One-Pump-System have sprung from the pen of our chief designer, Tony Logosz. For the Slingwing V.2, only the best that the development department has to offer was used.
One of the best aspects of this piece of sports equipment is that it is easy and safe to use. Rudimentary board or foil skills as well as knowledge of the wind are enough to get started with the Slingwing V.2. In combination with a foil, the effort required to hold it is absolutely minimal. On a SUP, snowboard or skateboard, it is also minimal, but due to the increased resistance during the ride, it is higher than with the foil board.
Everything included! The Slingwing V.2 comes with a robust and comfortably sized backpack designed for transport and storage. A wrist leash is also included.
