The new Duotone Foil Wing Unit will impress you from the first flight! Lightweight, stable and with plenty of upward pull, the wing has flight characteristics like no other. The control and direct steering of our new fixed handles make the Unit the best wing with handles you can get your hands on. The design brief for the Unit was to create a wing that flies stable on the wave and light as a feather behind the front handle. At the same time we wanted to achieve more lift and hang time on jumps and easier and more neutral behaviour on manoeuvres. All this in combination with a handling that comes close to that of a boom. The result will impress you as much as ourselves, the Unit beats all our previous designs hands down. The slightly increased wingspan of the Unit provides better flight stability on the wave and more hang time on jumps. At the same time, the wing is compact enough for less experienced riders, for freeriding and cruising, as well as for jump rotations when freestyling. Through additional segmentation of the front tube and the panel layout, Wing designer Ken Winner was able to further optimise the wing's cloth tension and twist. The new windows are not only optimally placed for good visibility and safety, they also offer weight advantages. Flow simulations helped the design team to come up with the final tweaks and details that make the Unit fly so excellently. Forget what you thought you knew about wings with handles, our bolt-on fixed handle still offers a pump-and-go system, but feels more direct and comfortable than any handle wing you've ever had in your hands. Test: Dutone Unit 2022 in 6,5qm

The first test of the new unit from Duotone. We were able to test the 6.5 sqm unit in different wind conditions. The overall result: The long wait was worth it. While the first version of the Unit was equipped with loops, it now has two rigid plastic handles. These are very handy, grip well, are positioned in the right places and are large enough to grip the front handle with both hands. A feature that will be a guarantee for success especially in upwind basic manoeuvres. For all upwind manoeuvres, the new unit is very pleasing and will help all those who (want to) train these manoeuvres to achieve quick success. When placed into the (up)wind, it remains wonderfully neutral and can be steered overhead without counter-pressure with the least amount of force to the new direction of travel. It remains neutral at all times. That is convincing! The same behaviour can be observed in all downwind manoeuvres. Following the slick, the Unit comes up with enormous power. In the lowest wind conditions the closed profile develops enormous power which it can convert into propulsion. The result is flying on the foil in the slightest gust. In contrast to the Slick, the Unit does not let itself be disturbed by strong winds and heavy gusts. Even with brief overpower it remains perfectly controllable. Hangtime also benefits from the closed profile. Jumps can be set down gently and controlled like a helicopter after the flight phase. Conclusion: A wing for all levels of riders, from beginners to intermediates to budding freestyle cracks. Everyone will appreciate the specific advantages of the Unit. Details about the test - Duotone Unit 2022

After the details of the Unit's handles, it is worthwhile to take a closer look at its flight characteristics. A significant positive feature of the Unit is its upwind characteristics. In this area
it is currently the benchmark in this area. Already when initiating a manoeuvre, whether toe- or frontside, you notice that the Unit knows in which direction it is about to go. After the initiated change of direction (by foot control) to windward comes the decisive moment in which you have to guide the wing over the head. From then on you leave the work to the unit. According to the motto "the Unit knows best" you only have to take care of your foot control of the foil after initiating the overhead transfer, the Unit does the rest as if on rails. During the overhead transfer, the Unit remains neutral with a very small residual pull upwards. As a beginner, you use this pull to not lose lift and speed when entering the wind. As an intermediate you use this pull to continue into the wind, increase your radius and maintain speed to continue turning successfully into the 360. At the turn point, the unit will give you the new position in front by itself. After the handover over the head, the profile ensures that the new direction can be initiated almost without any power.
