The Spitfire 1180 is the result of extensive development work to bring a bigger Spitfire to the market for the big boys and those riders whose local spots offer more marginal conditions. The Spitfire 1180 differs from the rest of the Spitfire family with an increased preload of 2.75% (more curve, which creates lift. The other Spitfires and ART PRO's are 2.5%) - the result:
- A very well balanced foil,
- is easy to thread and immediately feels comfortable,
- the lift distribution is even at speed and acceleration,
- fast and predictable recovery from breaks and tip-outs,
- turns beautifully and smoothly,
- has a remarkable low end and extended, slower glide.
The Spitfire 1180 is a great wing for anyone starting out with downwinding. It doesn't need to run as fast as the ART PRO 1201 or 1401, making it easy to stay on the bump. Turning manoeuvrability and control are amazing for such a large wing, making downwind flying possible for almost anyone. We feel like it's just the right time for this foil as it offers a less agonising in-road on the downwind.
The Spitfire 1180 is easy and forgiving to launch, fun to ride and amazingly manoeuvrable, so it is fast becoming a favourite amongst our bar starters and team riders.
The Spitfire 1180 is a light wind SUP weapon for foiling and small/weak waves. Light buoyancy and user friendly, it has the same easy predictable nature that has made the rest of the Spitfire range so popular across all disciplines, and now the bigger guys can enjoy them too.
For the wake crew, the Spitfire 1180 can ride any wake from 1st to 10th and will be a go-to for the bigger guys.
During the development process we put the Spitfire through its paces. The smaller sizes are fast and turn explosively. The bigger sizes are ideal for smaller spots and bigger riders. The Spitfires are versatile front wings capable of riding waves or flat water in prone, SUP, winging, wake, downwind, lake pumping and kite foiling disciplines. They do it all.
